Storyline :
Cassie and Jake are settling into married life together with their fledgling family. And even though Jake is visibly uncertain, they ponder having a child of their own. Researching Cassie's family history through a genealogy website, Jake's daughter Lori is amazed to find that Cassie has a niece - 25 year old Abigail. Cassie reveals that Abby's mother, Cassie's aunt, had a big falling out with Cassie's parents shortly before they died. The family is thrilled to learn about the relative, and reach out to her with an email.
Meanwhile, at a citizen's league meeting, Martha reveals that her husband, Mayor Tom, is being termed out of office. Luckily, Martha says they have a perfect replacement right there in the room. Of course Martha is talking about herself, but due to a misunderstanding Cassie is nominated. Too embarrassed to tell her true intentions, Martha reluctantly congratulates Cassie. With Cassie running for mayor and Jake having a lot of work, the family is suddenly strapped for time. Just as they realize they need help, Abigail arrives at the door. She's sweet and caring, just like Cassie, and is a big help around the house and at the Bell Book and Candle - where she quickly becomes a hit with the customers. But Abby has a plan to usurp her way into this family. She is jealous of everything Cassie has: the house, the step-kids, and Jake. Unlike Cassie, who uses "magic" to inspire others to change their life for the better, Abby uses "magic" to get what she wants no matter what. Jake's kids Brandon and Lori get entranced by Abby. Much to Jake's thrill, Abby makes intricate meals for the family. She casts doubt in Jake's mind about Cassie running for mayor. And she prompts Martha to start a rival campaign against Cassie. For the first time Cassie is struggling. Being a wife and step-mother is tough, and it's not coming easy to Cassie. It does, however, seem to come very easily to Abby, and Cassie can't help but be a bit jealous. Thinking that she's nearly got the family on her side, Abby manipulates Martha into believing that Cassie is trying to abuse her power as presumed mayor-to-be. Martha spreads the rumor through a smear campaign.
All seems lost for the Good Witch, until her family bands together, realizing they need to help Cassie just as she has helped them so many times before. Together, they realize that Abby has been trying to destroy Cassie and take her place in this new family. Working as a cohesive family unit for the first time, they prove Cassie's innocence. Cassie also weaves her magic, utilizing every member of the family, to help turn Abby around, helping her to see that she is a part of this family. Jake decides that he is ready to have another child. Good, Cassie says. Because she's pregnant!

IT'S GOOD WITCH V. BAD WITCH WHEN CATHERINE BELL STARS IN "THE GOOD WITCH'S FAMILY," A HALLMARK CHANNEL ORIGINAL MOVIE WORLD PREMIERE OCTOBER 29
Fourth Installment of Hallmark Channel's Highest-Rated Movie Series of All-Time; Hallmark Channel's "Countdown to Halloween," 48 Hours of Spooktacular Fun
Catherine Bell ("Army Wives") and Chris Potter ("Heartland") return to star in the World Premiere of "The Good Witch's Family," a Hallmark Channel Original Movie, Saturday, October 29 (9p.m. ET/PT, 8C). Sarah Power ("Saw V"), Catherine Disher, ("The Border"), Hannah Endicott-Douglas ("Casino Jack") and Matthew Knight ("The Grudge 3") co-star. This is the fourth installment of Hallmark Channel's highest-rated and longest-running Original Movie series, and is based on the characters from the original film, "The Good Witch." Hallmark Channel's "Countdown to Halloween" is a week-long celebration book-ended by two Hallmark Channel Original Movie premieres.
Life is becoming routinely good for Cassandra "Cassie" Nightingale (Bell) as she settles into marriage with Middleton Police Chief Jake Russell (Potter) and as stepmom to Brandon (Knight) and Lori (Endicott-Douglas). But not everything in Middleton is good, fair or fair to middling. In fact, some things are downright bad. Evil blows into town in the form of Cassie's long-lost cousin Abigail, who whips up wickedness like a tornado darting across the Plains. The once peaceful Russell family bickers night and day; Jake is fired after an argument with the Mayor over a bridge expansion; and Martha (Disher), the Mayor's wife and town busy body, who is also at odds with her husband over the bridge issue, walks out on their long marriage. As the town divides further over neighborhood expansion, Cassie is drafted to run for Mayor. There is friction in her once-happy marriage, her family is unraveling, and Abigail's diabolical "double, double, toil and trouble" is the apex of Cassie's misery. What's a good witch to do?
"The Good Witch's Family" is a Whizbang Films Production in association with Lee Distribution, Inc. Orly Adelson, Jonathan Eskenas and Frank Siracusa are the executive producers. Catherine Bell and Craig Pryce are co-executive producers. Janina Barrett is associate producer and Thom Pretak is the producer. Craig Pryce directed from a script by G. Ross Parker based on characters created by Rod Spence.

'Good' times continue for Bell in her fourth witch's tale By Jay Bobbin, Zap2It | October 19, 2011
It's no stretch to say Catherine Bell has cast a spell over viewers.
The co-star of Lifetime's "Army Wives" has found another ongoing success in her recurring series of "Good Witch" TV movies for Hallmark Channel. She recently signed for a fifth film, but before that begins production, the fourth one -- the comedy-fantasy "The Good Witch's Family" -- makes its debut Saturday, Oct. 29, appropriately just before Halloween.
In the latest tale, the somewhat magical Cassie (Bell) considers her life reasonably normal as the new wife of the local police chief (Chris Potter, also reprising the part he's played since the first movie) and stepmother to his children (Matthew Knight, Hannah Endicott-Douglas). But discord suddenly settles over the household, as well as the whole town, and Cassie finally traces it to the source: her troublemaker cousin (Sarah Power).
"It's really incredible," the friendly Bell says of now reaching her fourth "Good Witch" round, with at least one more definite. "People ask me all the time, 'When's the next one coming out?' It's really struck a note with a lot of people … men and women, adults and kids. It's very rare that kind of appeal happens, so I like it."
Despite the "Good Witch" moniker, the new story and its forerunners never have confirmed that Cassie actually is a sorceress. That's one of the elements Bell enjoys most, since she reasons, "What she has could just really be great intuition. She understands people well and has good senses, and I certainly know people in life who are like that. You just never quite know, and that's the mystery of it."
After last season's "Army Wives" episodes that saw the death of her alter ego Denise Sherwood's son in combat, Bell welcomed a return to the much more fanciful "Good Witch" spirit. It can be tricky to maintain that over the course of several movies, but she believes consistency among the cast and crew has been key. "We've had the same director for all of them (Craig Pryce), and that's helped. He knows when to throw in the right tone at the right moments."
And for her purposes, Bell also has had past screen witches to look to. She notes, "I grew up with 'Bewitched,' and I loved the playfulness that she (Elizabeth Montgomery) brought to that character. There's definitely an element of that in this. You actually could call this kind of a fun, modern take on that."
Bell certainly knows about long series runs, having had one with "JAG" on CBS and now enjoying another with "Army Wives," which is about to begin production on its sixth season. She's in a position any weekly-TV-minded performer would love: "Army Wives" could get another renewal, plus Bell has just finished making TNT's upcoming adaptation of the April Smith novel "Good Morning, Killer," and a possible series for her FBI agent character in that production reportedly is under consideration.
And then there's "The Good Witch," which would seem a likely candidate for weekly consideration after what will amount to at least five movies. "There's always been talk about that," Bell confirms, "and I always get asked about it. It certainly would be cute. I like the character and the people I work with, so I would have no problem with that."
Marveling at the bountiful career options that appear to be in front of her now, mother of two Bell reflects, "I remember being a starving actress, going on auditions and keeping my fingers crossed that I'd still be able to pay the rent. It's certainly an interesting journey that life can take you on. It's been really, really fun."
